CHICAGO - Percipia, a hospitality telephony and technology solutions company, today announced an expanded partnership with Webex by Cisco to add hospitality interfacing for Webex Calling. Webex, a leading provider of collaboration technologies powering hybrid work, will now provide cloud calling capabilities for in-room hospitality phones and interfacing to the property management system, powered by Percipia’s Parallax interface engine.

We have been collaborating with Cisco since Percipia’s infancy. Since Webex is making significant headway in the hospitality space, it’s only natural for hotels to elect Webex for call control of its guest rooms, said Kal MacDonald, Chief Operating Officer, Percipia. Parallax is an interface gateway that integrates a hotel property management system (PMS) with a telephone system. Percipia has developed a new integration with Webex that allows customers to interface with a hotel’s PMS for guest extensions. Properties can now enable hotel features like calling permissions, guest name Caller-ID, Wake-up Calls, and housekeeping room status updates using Webex Calling.

In addition, Percipia developed a Parallax Bot for Webex Messaging. Hotel Front Desk Agents and Call Center Operators can set wake-up calls, make guest service requests, and get housekeeping room status updates by making automated Parallax requests via a chatbot in Webex Messaging. Parallax Bot automatically sets and cancels wake-up calls, and DND status, and informs hoteliers of the housekeeping status of a guest room without the need to log into separate systems like a PMS.

Percipia has a longstanding relationship with Cisco. In 2001, Percipia developed Parallax for a client to integrate Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and Springer-Miller Systems Property Management System (PMS), SMS|Host. For the past twenty-two years, Cisco and Percipia have utilized this client to power call control in guest rooms.

Parallax is Linux-based, operates on non-proprietary hardware, and can be deployed on-premises or in a hosted environment. Parallax is certified and compatible with over thirty different PMSs, and the list grows every year as new PMS houses come to market. Parallax Bot is available for Webex clients who purchase Parallax.
