Program

Culinary Arts

The Kemmons Wilson Culinary Institute (KWCI) is a separate unit within Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management offering a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Hospitality and Resort Management with a concentration in Culinary Arts. The Institute also offers Culinary Certification programs, continuing education credit programs, and other non-credit programs in culinary arts, baking, and pastry. Other programs for executive education and professional certification for industry professionals and food enthusiasts are also offered.

Hospitality and Resort Management

The Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management (KWS) at The University of Memphis was created and named after the founder of Holiday Inns, Kemmons Wilson, Sr. KWS offers a balance of academics and experiential learning in the hospitality, resort, and tourism business stressing global awareness, diversity and sustainability. Our program provides an education stemming from the roots of hospitality and is designed to prepare students for a 21st century career in one of the largest industries of the world. Field experience provides students with learning while working in a variety of settings, such as: InterContinental Hotel Group properties, Marriott Hotels and Resorts, Hilton Hotels, Peabody Hotel Group, Caesars Entertainment, and a myriad of other hotels, restaurants, resorts, sport and tourism businesses. Career opportunities abound in this fastest growing of all fields, and KWS graduates will be prepared to assume their roles in the business.

Sport & Leisure Management and Sport Commerce

The diverse curriculums of Sport and Leisure Management (undergraduate) and Sport Commerce (graduate) develop students with the skills essential to enter careers in marketing, management, facility and event operations, and other administrative positions in a constantly evolving sport and leisure marketplace. With diverse experience and expertise, the sport management faculty focus on connecting academic knowledge with practical application to help students prepare for the sport and leisure industry. Students have the flexibility to take courses on campus or online while getting field experience through numerous opportunities in the Memphis area. Graduates have secured employment with teams, facilities, events, collegiate athletic departments, governing bodies, corporate sport marketing departments, sport marketing agencies, and community recreation organizations.
