WASHINGTON, Marriott International, Inc. MAR announced today that the newly constructed Renaissance Hollywood Hotel located at Hollywood & Highland®, a retail and entertainment destination and new home to the Academy Awards® ceremonies, will open its doors on Dec. 26, 2001. This latest addition to the Renaissance Hotels, Resorts and Suites portfolio is owned by TrizecHahn Development Corporation and is managed by Marriott International, Inc. The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel is located at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue, beneath the world famous "Hollywood" sign.

"This is a striking example of the Renaissance vision to develop hotels with unique designs, world-class service and contemporary restaurants with regional flair," said Jurgen Giesbert, senior vice president, Renaissance North America. "Glamour, style and energy are synonymous with Hollywood, and these themes resonate throughout the hotel and the Hollywood & Highland complex. We're delighted to partner with TrizecHahn in this exciting revitalization, and we look forward to welcoming guests to the movie-making capital of the world."

The 22-story, 637-room Renaissance Hollywood Hotel features a contemporary design that captures the look and charm of mid-century modern Hollywood. Contemporary works by renowned local artists, such as Chuck Arnoldi and Monique Van Gelderan, are displayed throughout the public spaces. Thoughtfully appointed guest rooms with cordless phone, CD player and wireless web access are chic and comfortable, while 33 suites offer the height of Hollywood style. Certain to be in great demand is the 3,500-square-foot rooftop Panorama Suite. The four-bedroom penthouse features cork floors, a bar and floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of the Hollywood Hills, Pacific Ocean and downtown Los Angeles.

Event planners seeking distinctive gatherings will have many choices at the Renaissance Hollywood. The hotel offers nearly 50,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, including the 25,090-square-foot Grand Ballroom, catered by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck. The 7,932-square-foot Hollywood Ballroom, an outdoor pre-function area and 15 additional rooms suitable for breakouts or smaller functions are also available. For a truly unrivaled event, planners should consider the Pool Terrace, a breathtaking venue set against a backdrop of the Hollywood Hills.

Formerly of Patina, renowned Chef Thorston Leighty heads Twist. This restaurant and sushi bar follows the Renaissance tradition of innovative regional cuisine. Chef Leighty's menu draws upon Californian eclectic influences with dishes such as Pepper Crusted Ahi Pops and King Crab Smashed Potatoes.

The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel is ideally situated in the heart of the $615 million, 1.3 million-square-foot Hollywood & Highland retail/entertainment destination that officially opened Nov. 9, 2001. This complex includes the state-of-the-art Kodak Theatre, the world's first theater designed specifically for live broadcast productions, including the Academy Awards®. Hollywood & Highland also features pedestrian streetscapes and walkways lined with nightclubs, television studios, upscale restaurants and world-class retailers.
