Marriott To Introduce Courtyard Brand In Brussels Near NATO Headquarters - Hotel will be fourth property in Brussels

WASHINGTON, DC - Marriott International
Construction on the 190-room hotel is expected to begin this year. Later this year, the company expects to open the 218-room Brussels Marriott hotel; Marriott currently operates the 262-room Renaissance Brussels Hotel and the 50-unit European Quarter Marriott Executive Apartments in the city for extended stay travelers.
Located approximately five minutes from Zaventem International Airport on the main road to downtown Brussels, the Courtyard by Marriott Brussels will be situated near the Headquarters for NATO, Eurocontrol (the governing body for European air routes) and a large number of international companies such as Toyota, KPMG, Unisys and Carrefour.
"We are delighted with our expansion in Brussels," said Ed Fuller, president and managing director of international lodging for Marriott. "This property will represent our fourth lodging brand and fourth hotel in the city. Brussels is emerging as a major destination for conferences and incentives in addition to business travel. We're very pleased to participate in the emergence of Brussels as a significant European destination."
Marriott introduced its Courtyard brand in 1983. It is aimed at business and leisure travelers who want consistent, high-quality accommodations and services at moderate, affordable prices. Over the years, Courtyard by Marriott hotels have been the leading choice in their category. Services and amenities offered by Courtyard hotels outside the U.S. and Canada vary from country to country, but are appropriate to the needs of guests in the host country. All properties feature superior quality guestrooms that are usually larger than rooms offered by other hotels in its segment.
The Courtyard by Marriott Brussels will have a casual restaurant that will serve three meals daily, a lobby lounge and a health club. Other amenities will include a business lounge, room service, in-room mini-bars, a gift shop, underground parking for 78 automobiles and airport/city shuttle bus service. Its conference space will total 9,650 square feet including a 2,650-square-foot ballroom that will be divisible into three sections and 7,000 square feet of meeting rooms in varying sizes. In room amenities will include dataport, a large work desk and good lighting.
There currently are 562 Courtyard by Marriott hotels in operation worldwide: 517 in the U.S., 14 in Germany, 11 in the United Kingdom; seven in China; six in Canada; three in Australia; two in Austria and one each in France, Mexico and Costa Rica.
