Westin Scheduled to Open Hotel in North Carolina’s Capital City Offering Unparalleled Amenities and Service

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. | Westin Hotels & Resorts, the upper-upscale brand of parent company Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) announced a joint development between Welcome Holdings, Inc. and First American Hotels, Inc. of Raleigh, North Carolina to open its first hotel in the Tar Heel State’s capital city. Welcome Holdings and First American Hotels will deliver the Westin brand of modern luxury, spectacular comfort and a vitality of style and spirit in a newly developed 225-room (including 150 luxury suites) hotel directly adjacent to the Crabtree Valley Mall.

The hotel will be located immediately adjacent to the Crabtree Valley Mall in what is referred to as “The Triangle” business complex, is set to debut in summer 2005. The Westin at Crabtree Valley will be minutes away from RDU International Airport, Research Triangle Park and downtown Raleigh offering a fine selection and choice of shopping, dining and nightlife venues.
The hotel will offer the brand’s finest in amenities and services including the Westin Heavenly Bed®, Westin Heavenly Bath®, Westin Service Express®, Westin One Call® and Westin WorkoutSM and services unequalled by hotels in the Southeastern United States, such as luxury limousine car service, banking and travel desks, 24-hour concierge and 42-inch plasma screen televisions. In addition, the hotel will feature a luxurious grand lobby including a piano/jazz bar, rooftop garden terrace, and heated swimming pool. The Westin at Crabtree Valley will also feature 10,000-square feet of meeting space, a proposed 40,000-square foot world-class wellness spa, elite destination retail shops, and two restaurants including a five-star signature restaurant.
Westin will bring modern luxury to Raleigh by delivering unmatched comfort and outstanding service to professional business and leisure travelers in an environment characterized by an elegant, calming and subdued sense of style. Westin's signature Heavenly Beds will be in all guest rooms and suites, providing guests with the ultimate in comfort. Sumptuous, stylish and plush, the all-white Heavenly Bed consists of a custom designed pillow-top mattress set; a down blanket; three crisp sheets ranging in thread count from 180 to 250; luxurious duvet; and five of the best pillows in the business. To complement the bed, Westin will also install its highly acclaimed Heavenly Bath, which includes a custom-designed dual showerhead that provides guests with a therapeutic shower spa, featuring several spray options, from light mist to massaging needles and a curved shower rod that adds an extra eight inches of elbow room.
The Westin at Crabtree Valley will become the fourth Starwood property to open in the Raleigh-Durham metropolitan area and will join its three sister hotels including the Sheraton Raleigh Capital Center Hotel, the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center in Durham, and the Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel in Chapel Hill.
