Asia Pacific's leading luxury hotel group, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, announced today it will open a new hotel in Baotou city of China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in mid-2007. This will be the group's first property in the region.

Shangri-La Hotel, Baotou, 30 minutes drive from the airport, will be located in the prime city centre area, next to Yinhe Square in Qingshan District which is the city's major landmark. Baotou is an industrial centre on China's Huang He River – the site of a large integrated iron and steel complex and a manufacturing hub for heavy industry of China.

The hotel will feature 348 luxurious rooms with city and botanical garden views and an average floor space of 42 square metres. In addition to a host of signature Shangri-La amenities and services, such as 24-hour room service, same day laundry and valet service, coffee and tea-making facilities, data ports and satellite TV, all rooms will also have broadband Internet access. Shangri-La's exclusive Horizon Club will feature special amenities, privileges and facilities including express check-in and check-out service, butler service and a Horizon Club lounge.

A range of restaurants will be available including lobby lounge, coffee shop, Chinese restaurant and a Mongolian restaurant. The meeting and banqueting facilities will be the largest in the city, featuring a 1,800-square-metre grand ballroom, and an additional ten function rooms with a total space of 1,200 square meters. Recreation facilities will include a 1,000-square-metre fully equipped health club and an indoor swimming pool.
