Announcing The Launch Of A New Luxury Hotel Brand | Guoman Hotels
Global ambitions for leading UK operator

Thistle Hotels, the full service UK hotel group and London’s leading hotelier, is launching its new deluxe global brand offering, Guoman Hotels.
The development reflects Thistle Hotels’ ambitions to extend its domination of the middle market hotel business in the UK by offering world class premium products to an upmarket international audience.
A planned refurbishment strategy for some of Thistle Hotels’ existing properties, coupled with an ambitious acquisition strategy and a significant investment in state-of-the-art technology means Guoman is well placed to realise its goal to be the first choice for the upscale business and leisure traveller.
The newly refurbished Cumberland hotel is the perfect flagship for the new Guoman brand and has set the Guoman standard in its first four months of operation. Located at London’s Marble Arch and on the doorstep of some of the capital’s premium hotel offerings, it acts as the Guoman benchmark for exceptional comfort, superior service and contemporary design – all underpinned with the latest technology.
Key to the offering for business customers is the self-contained complex of 26 flexible, multifunctional, air-conditioned meeting rooms which place The Cumberland at the forefront of the capital’s prime destinations for Meetings and Events. Whether you are hosting five or 300 participants, a private meeting, all-day training, a full-scale conference or even a wedding, every room provides an inspiring and spacious contemporary setting.
All meeting room facilities are equipped with a full range of audio-visual technology with adjustable sound and lighting control, while highly trained staff at three registration desks are available to cater for guests’ every need. Flexible catering is offered too, as each room is linked to a 200-seat dining area operated known as The “Market Place” – where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served from interactive show kitchens offering a wide choice of menus from around the world. Also, Gary Rhodes joins the hotel in the spring running both the Brasserie and Fine Dining Restaurant
Commenting on the Guoman launch, Arun Amarsi, Chief Executive Officer of Thistle Hotels and Guoman parent company BIL International Limited said; “It’s an exciting time for the travel industry and the next ten years will see a dramatic overhaul in the way we book travel and what we expect in terms of service. Our investment in technology and our commitment to service standards is designed to future-proof our brand offering and put us in a position to exceed the high expectations of the premium leisure and business traveller.”
Looking ahead, although future openings will feature common service quality hallmarks, each property will be designed to be architecturally different, with its own clear identity. The chain will be renowned for the best bed, TV System and shower. The intention is to provide an exciting and credible alternative to existing global brands with destination hotels that provoke a reaction from the moment you enter the foyer. The guest experience combines the intimate, design-focused offering of a boutique hotel with the excellent service reputation you would expect from a major global deluxe operator.
Beverly King, Chief Operating Officer of Thistle Hotels added; “Having consolidated Thistle’s position in the UK hotel market and streamlined our UK portfolio, we’re in a great position to broaden our portfolio and pursue the commercial opportunities of the luxury traveller. The acquisition of the management contract to operate The Cumberland and the phenomenal response we’ve had to the hotel suggests there is a genuine demand for our offering.”
