R.D. Olson Construction

CARLSBAD, Calif. | R.D. Olson Construction has wrapped up work on the $11 million final phase of the award-winning La Costa Glen Carlsbad senior living community in North San Diego County.

R.D. Olson added 21 separate buildings to house 52 villas and garden homes to the coastal community, while maintaining the surrounding 200-acre nature preserve. The community’s presence bodes well with the serenity of its surrounding glen.

The development is owned and operated by Carlsbad-based Continuing Life Communities.

“It was a pleasure working with Continuing Life Communities on the expansion of this quality senior living community,” said R.D. Olson CEO/president, Robert Olson. “The company’s developments are always first–rate.”

The new villas and garden homes are arranged in duplex and triplex configurations, with each ranging from two to three bedrooms. Residences measure 1,600 to 2,000 square feet and include a full kitchen, living room, laundry room, dining area and patio. The villas have attached garages, while the garden homes include parking via easy-to-access detached garage buildings.

La Costa Glen is an age-restricted community where residents pay a one-time

entrance fee and monthly maintenance fees. In addition to their home, residents are offered meals, health care services, general living assistance and other amenities.

R.D. Olson Construction was founded in 1979. It has since grown into one of the largest general contracting companies in California. The firm has built such establishments as Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Resort, Ojai; Marriott Newport Coast Villas, Newport Beach; Brentwood County Club, Los Angeles; and more than 300 restaurants nationwide. Most recently, the company completed construction of two California hotels: Residence Inn by Marriott in Oceanside–Marriott International’s $13 million four-story prototype for the extended-stay market; and the $40 million Burbank Marriott Residence Inn. Projects on the boards include the $65 million Renaissance ClubSport, Aliso Viejo, and the multi-phased Shadow Ridge, Palm Desert – both in California.
