Ushering in an unprecedented year for Kor Hotel Group’s Viceroy brand, Viceroy Hotels, Resorts & Residences is pleased to announce the inauguration of the glamorous Viceroy Miami on February 12. Interiors by Kelly Wearstler will enchant both business and leisure travelers alike, with an eclectic sensibility that has become synonymous with Viceroy’s sophisticated look. As the first of three new-build Viceroys set to launch in 2009, the East Coast opening of Viceroy Miami sets into motion a strategic expansion of the brand.

Viceroy brings its singular lifestyle experience to Miami as centerpiece of the groundbreaking ICON Brickell complex in the city’s burgeoning downtown. The 50-story residential-hotel asserts its polished spirit with a mélange of residential dwellings, see-and-be-seen dining locales, transcendental spa experiences and a host of unexpected delights that hallmark Viceroy’s call to cultured living. Housed in the ultra-modern architecture of Arquitectonica, Viceroy shares ICON’s “city within a city” with two additional residential towers and an astounding, two-acre amenities deck open to the tropical air.

“2009 represents a landmark year for Viceroy with three new properties set to open by year-end,” said Brad Korzen, CEO and Founder of Kor Hotel Group. “As the first step in this expansion, Viceroy Miami’s enticing design and urbane sensibility succinctly capture the Viceroy lifestyle. Each one of the properties opening this year promises to transport guests to a refined reality that builds on the spirit of its unique location - cosmopolitan center, beachfront retreat and mountain idyll.”

Come Summer 2009, Viceroy Anguilla Resort & Residences will herald the brand’s international presence, and in December, Viceroy Snowmass Resort & Residences will triumph Kor Hotel Group’s “Second Nature” initiative as one of the first LEED-certified Silver hotels in North America.

Viceroy Miami: A Graceful Mingling of Elegance and Whimsy

Tapping her talent for sophisticated cultural interplay, Kelly Wearstler has intertwined modern polish with timeless Asian accents in the design of Viceroy Miami’s 162 guestrooms. This style also extends to the hotel lobby, a signature restaurant, event spaces and an exclusive rooftop lounge with pool on the 50th floor reserved for Viceroy guests and ICON homeowners. A rich color palette offsets classic forms and organic finishes, creating an intimate tone across the grand scale of ICON’s glass and steel profile.

Viceroy Miami’s guestrooms and suites offer luxurious comforts, personalized touches and modern necessities. On the 15th floor, Viceroy’s signature restaurant will serve contemporary American cuisine by a soon-to-be-announced acclaimed chef, in a setting overlooking ICON Brickell’s impressive pools. A private balcony area offers seating for 16 and views across Miami. Open to the public, the restaurant spills out onto a two-acre outdoor “living room” that unites the ICON towers and houses an array of amenities and entertainment options.

The focal point of ICON’S theatrical amenities deck is a 300-foot water feature, with a wading pool, 50-person hot tub and the longest infinity-edge pool in Florida. Along the way reside the poolside Café Icon, an outdoor fireplace fronted by a mosaic “rug,” and a whimsical life-size chess set.

Also located on the open-air deck is ICON’s 28,000 square-foot urban spa with fitness center which is managed and operated by Viceroy. Dramatic and airy, The Spa centers around a 5,000 square-foot Water Lounge staged as a floating “library,” with wading pool, waterborne sofas, three hot-and-cold plunge pools, fireplace, and lofty thirty-foot ceilings. The destination spa also offers 10 treatment rooms, a redwood sauna, a eucalyptus-infused steam room, “his” and “hers” relaxation areas, and a screening room for guest speakers.

Atop the 50th floor of Viceroy Miami, Club 50 offers the city’s most exclusive indoor-outdoor lounge and private rooftop pool, with spectacular views unequalled in Miami. This airy yet intimate escape invites lounging well after sunset with specialty drinks and light fare.

Viceroy Miami is located at 485 Brickell Avenue in downtown Miami, Florida. .
