New development by Sheraton soars over Cartagena’s coast
Sheraton adds to its list of Colombian hotels with a new opening set for March 2017. Sheraton Cartagena is a 5-star, new build development with a key count of 256 and will be located on a narrow finger of land jutting out from the city's peninsula towards the Isla de Tierra Bomba. Cartagena, located on Colombia's Caribbean coast, is the country's fifth largest city and has been a popular tourist haunt for many decades. Colombia has seen increased peace and prosperity in the recent past and its tourism industry has benefited enormously from these calmer times.
Sheraton has chosen the dense strip of Bocagrande on which to build the new hotel, which will form part of the Ocean Tower development. Bocagrande is known for its skyscrapers, nightlife and endless beaches, and the new Sheraton Cartagena will feel right at home. Two towers, their floors defined as concrete ribs interspersed with wrap-around glazing, overlook the turquoise waters and white sands of the beach. Inspired by airy loft developments, and the hotel's amenities offer glitz, glamour and energy. With names such as re:fuel restaurant, xyz bar and re:mix lobby, guests can experience the spirit of Cartagena's famed nightlife from inside the hotel itself. The aptly titled "loft" rooms come fully equipped with generous beds and hedonistic spa showers, ideal for the decadent and discerning traveler.
All of the city's hotspots for nightlife and entertainment are located just a stonesthrow away, and the vibrant city itself can be experienced during the day, or take a boat trip out to one of the nearby islands for a real taste of the Caribbean.
