IHG Hotels & Resorts has kicked off its second annual ‘Stay for Good’ campaign in support of Australia’s leading food rescue charity OzHarvest. This year, the initiative has been extended to include the New Zealand-based sister organisation KiwiHarvest, with a goal of donating more than 240,000 meals to people in need across both countries during the month of September.

From 1 to 30 September, guests who stay and dine at *participating IHG properties in Australia and New Zealand will be helping feed people in need. A $1 donation to OzHarvest or KiwiHarvest will be contributed for every stay, with each dollar providing two meals in Australia or three meals in New Zealand. An optional $1 donation will also be added to every restaurant and bar bill through IHG’s Dollar Diner initiative, and an online donation page provides additional way for guests to support the cause.

Participating IHG properties in Australia and New Zealand include: the newly opened Hotel Indigo Melbourne on Flinders, InterContinental Sydney, InterContinental Sorrento Mornington Peninsula, Hotel Indigo Brisbane City Centre, voco Kirkton Park, Crowne Plaza Auckland, Crowne Plaza Christchurch, InterContinental Wellington, Holiday Inn Queenstown Remarkables Park and more.

We have proudly supported OzHarvest through our ‘Awesome Partnership’ since 2019 and we’re thrilled to extend our support across the Tasman to KiwiHarvest this year. As part of its ongoing support of OzHarvest and KiwiHarvest, IHG supports the Food Rescue and Nourish programs. Food Rescue prevents hotels’ good food going to waste by feeding hungry Australians and New Zealanders and reduces the impact on the environment by reducing waste sent to landfill. Through Nourish, IHG has supported young people facing barriers to education and employment with training to achieve a qualification in hospitality and provided opportunities for them to gain on-the-job training, mentorship, and work experience at IHG properties.

Additionally, IHG employees across Australia volunteer year-round, supporting food deliveries to those in need and helping out at the ‘take what you need, give if you can’ OzHarvest Market in Waterloo, NSW.

The leading global hotel company has also supported the launch of VietHarvest and the development of JapanHarvest in Vietnam and Japan, respectively.

New Zealand’s largest food rescue social venture, KiwiHarvest collects good food before it goes to waste and delivers it to those in need. KiwiHarvest reduces the negative impacts of food waste on our environment by redistributing excess food, helping to create lasting positive social change by nourishing those in need.
