As HOSPA Professional Development ushers in a new cohort of learners undertaking its Revenue Management programme for the Vacation Rental sector – the organisation has shared how a previous course graduate has applied the learnings to further their career.

The Revenue Management course, a unique programme which blends practical application with theoretical insight, has consistently delivered transformative results for hospitality professionals – and HOSPA has shared one standout example in Omoyeni “Mo” Mebude, whose journey through the programme highlights its remarkable impact.

The HOSPA PD Revenue Management programme is designed to equip learners with the tools and knowledge needed to excel in one of hospitality’s most important fields. Notably, it is one of the first independent revenue management courses developed specifically for the short-term rental sector. Through structured modules, participants gain insight into pricing strategies, demand forecasting and the psychological and strategic dimensions of inventory and distribution management.

One of the programme’s most inspiring success stories is Omoyeni “Mo” Mebude, who transitioned from a background in accounting to a thriving career in revenue management, thanks in part to her experience with HOSPA’s course.

Mo’s journey began as an accountant in Nigeria, but it was her move to the UK and subsequent discovery of revenue management that sparked a new passion. After joining Awaze, Europe’s leading managed vacation rentals group, as a Revenue Executive, Mo’s potential was recognised by her director, who encouraged her to enrol in HOSPA PD’s Revenue Management programme.

“At first, I wasn’t sure if I could juggle work, leadership commitments, and the demands of study,” Mo recalls. “But my director’s belief in me was the push I needed. I realised I didn’t just want to complete the programme – I wanted to excel at it.”

HOSPA’s course provided Mo with the tools and knowledge to thrive in her role. “Module 3, Managing Inventory, Price & Distribution, reshaped how I approach revenue management,” she says. “It encouraged me to think beyond numbers and forecasts, delving into customer psychology and strategic decision-making. Another standout was Module 2, where I learned to create a value matrix – a skill I believe every Revenue Manager should master.”

Graduating with distinction, Mo has already applied her learning to deliver tangible results in her role as Revenue Manager at Awaze. “Finishing on top has boosted my confidence and challenged me to always ask ‘why.’ That curiosity has become my greatest asset,” she explains.

She credits HOSPA’s resources and guidance for her success: “Understanding my learning style and focusing on pre-submission calls helped me stay on track. I also put myself in the shoes of the examiner, asking how I could make their job easier—an approach that proved invaluable.”

The HOSPA PD Revenue Management programme is designed to benefit both learners and their organisations, equipping participants with a comprehensive understanding of revenue management’s interconnected nature with sales, marketing and distribution.

This programme develops professionals who not only excel in their roles but who also drive innovation within their businesses. Mo’s story is a testament to the programme’s ability to elevate careers and enhance industry standards, as she’s directly applied learnings to heighten her day-to-day role. HOSPA CEO Jane Pendlebury

With the 2024 programme now underway, Mo encourages others to take the leap: “If you’re considering this course, just do it! It’s an investment in yourself and your career that will pay dividends. The knowledge you gain isn’t just about pricing and forecasting – it’s about seeing the bigger picture and driving value across your organisation.”

Awaze, having recognised the quality of the course’s output for learners, is sponsoring the course for the third year running, with the brand appreciating the benefits of a shared commitment to fostering talent and supporting professional development. As businesses continue to navigate dynamic challenges, HOSPA’s programme equips professionals with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in today’s ever-evolving hospitality landscape.
