Exploring the Future: Will AI Build the Metaverse?
Will AI build the metaverse? 100% yes, but to understand where we're headed, best to look at how AAA video games are currently built (in addition to other cloud-based software tools).
Nowadays, each game requires the coordination of global teams of developers and designers, costing hundreds of millions of dollars to produce over a multi-year period. And news flash: most are already using various forms of AI within their rendering engine, project flow, sales, marketing and distribution software to bring the project in cost-effectively.
The metaverse in this sense is just a natural extension and evolution of how modern consumer-facing tools and games are built. AI will be deployed wherever it can because that's likely the only way going forward to build something of this scale on a reasonable timeline and without hemorrhaging costs.
AI is accelerating everything, many repetitive tasks that require a specific skill can now be automated, where before a human had to learn how to do the job.
This elevates the bottom, and creativity becomes the currency. If someone didn't get a chance to learn how to sing or make music and can't afford to or doesn't have the headspace to take on that endeavour, text to music will allow them to express themselves.
If someone hasn't learned how to use Blender, Unity or Solidity, and can't afford the right developers, soon they will be able to prompt an AI to unleash their creativity. The Metaverse will allow everyone to turn their 2D digital lives into more immersive experiences, and experiences that resemble them and allow them to express who they are.
The Metaverse is not only about creating worlds for other people to come to, but also mostly to allow people to create their own worlds, in a cost-effective fashion.
The universe of digital assets and virtual environments is growing at an unprecedented rate, outstripping our ability to harness and understand them fully. This expansion isn't just about sheer numbers but also pertains to these entities' increasing intricacy and sophistication. It's becoming increasingly clear that we'll need to harness the power of artificial intelligence to help us navigate and make the most of this digital evolution. Undoubtedly, AI will play a crucial part in shaping the next generation of the Internet, with its deep capabilities in handling complex data and navigating intricate virtual spaces.
All the above and probably more.
"Hand-made" metaverses will be the minority, and may come to be considered higher value, as we consider a wooden table made in demand by a skilled artisan of higher value.Still, most tables come from factories.
Also, there will be lots of hybrid solutions: 100% AI and 100% human made will probably be rare extremes.
AI certainly seems to be the driving force with the potential to unlock the metaverse for real.
While I am not a fan of allowing Ai to interfere with human creativity, the opportunity presented by Ai is absolutely massive in terms of what it can do and what it can help us achieve building the Metaverse forward.
For starters, building a Metaverse space becomes 100x easier for users who can now build something that is absolutely unique to them and speaks their language. All they will need to do is elaborate exactly what it is that they need and make sure they have the right prompt.
This extends to hosting within the space which no longer requires their presence, an Ai-NPC can guide the guests through the space and answer all their questions.
One of the main factors I'm bullish on is Safety enabled by Ai, wherein soon enough, biometric verification systems will become a norm to ensure people in our Metaverse Ecosystems are who they say they are.
With that being said and with the exponential growth of Ai in the next few Months/Years, we are approaching a stage where Ai will enable us to do virtually anything, might as well leverage it in a Safe, Equitable and Inclusive manner to build a better Metaverse.
