MCLEAN, VA | The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) is seeking top-level marketing and advertising executives for online judging of its annual Adrian Awards – the largest and most prestigious marketing awards competition for hospitality, travel and tourism in the world.

“In keeping with the move to judge most of the entries online, we are looking to expand our judging pool with creative, smart and innovative marketing experts, in or out of the hospitality and travel arena, who have both the experience and expertise to critique with intelligence and insight,” states Melanie Penoyar, HSMAI director of awards competition.

Interested judges must meet the following criteria:

  • 10 years of hospitality, travel and tourism marketing or specific media experience in one or more of the following: advertising, public relations, electronic media, publishing, travel writing, and destination or product marketing.
  • Aptitude for current trends in marketing.
  • Ability to be objective.
  • Capacity to hold to a commitment of confidentiality.

The Adrian Awards are handed out in three categories: advertising, public relations and web marketing. Participants will have the opportunity to judge in any or all of the disciplines. The competition draws entries from across the globe with last year’s contest accounting for nearly 1,500 submissions from 46 countries.

Each entry is judged for its own merits, not against the competition, and as it relates to its statement of communication objective. A scoring sheet is provided, and how judges score the levels of achievement could guarantee a gold, silver or bronze award for one or all entries in each category. Winners are chosen based on their execution rather than budget. The tabulation process determines the outcome for each individual submission. If there are no submissions in a particular category that merits an award there will be no winners in that category.

Winners will be showcased on Jan. 30, 2006 at the New York Marriot Marquis during the 16th Annual Adrian Awards Gala, a multifaceted, black-tie networking extravaganza celebrating award-winning work, lifetime achievement, and the “Top 25 Most Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing.”
