HospitalityNet™, Oracle Hospitality, and Nor1 presented an insightfull event to the global hospitality industry last week. The event focused on the acquisition of Nor1 by Oracle Hospitality and how this new powerhouse alliance would beneficially impact hoteliers in every region of the globe.

The unique tête-à-tête between Alex Alt, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Oracle Hospitality, and Jason Bryant, Vice President Nor1/Oracle Hospitality, was amplified when end-users of the technology joined the live stream to interact with the executives. The questions ranged from why Oracle brought Nor1 through the mechanics of the acquisition.

When asked why Oracle decided to bring Nor1 into the fold, Alex Alt explained that Nor1 helps generate incremental high margin revenue for hotel properties and complements Oracle Hospitality products, traditionally viewed as cost-centers. "The solution adds value and can help our customers recover the top line of their business. Oracle is also in a unique position to remove the friction that has historically been in the way between Nor1 with Opera accounts. Now we have effectively made the combination pain-free, commercially, technically, procedurally, to get Nor1 up and running in a hotel that's using the Opera PMS."

Jason Bryant, VP of Nor1, added, "The alignment between the two companies was the most important factor to the entire team at Nor1. We all share a vision on the importance of measuring, managing, and monetizing guest engagement. At the end of the day, that is fundamentally what we do. And I think that is the significant value proposition that we bring into the Oracle Hospitality mix."

For attendees listening to the live event, it was informative, educational, and interactive. The session explored innovative ideas and confirmed how passionate both Oracle and Nor1 are about the rebound of the hotel industry to ensure it comes back more vital than ever.

The interviews were followed up by one-on-one questions from the hotel-specific panelists, representing seasoned veterans from all areas, including IT, Revenue Management, and Operations. The guest panelists included:

  • Gunnar van Hagen, COO, Lindner Hotels
  • Riko van Santen, CIO, Kempinski Hotels
  • Vikram Pradham, GVP, Revenue Management, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts

"This panel format is a great way to get everyone engaged in these important conversations," stated Henri Roelings, Founder of Hospitality Net. "It is refreshing to see technology providers interacting with the tech users from both a high level and from a granular perspective."
